kahlil n me

Kahlil And Me

Kahlil: "I am alive like you.

And now I stand beside you,

Close your eyes and look around,

You will see me in front of you."

(Gibran's epitaph from the Mar Sarkis Monastery in Bsharri, Lebanon where he was laid to rest in 1932.)

Me: Words of your heart will flow as my blood,

and as I may bleed willingly,

your kiss will be cherished.

and I will fall, into dark valleys unknown not a thought of fear for I know you did too,

as our unsaid conversation will keep me safe,

and the secrets will remain, in my heart until I unite with you.

I will sit here at the edge of this existence, till you come.

I will wait for you to come breath through my body.

To teach me to fly with you, and reach those places only you did.

For that sacred love will satisfy,

only if you reply.

I know you, the way I feel me.

come as my light, set me free.

our secrets are safe, so is our deal.

I know the day you arrive is real.

For the mist answers my pray

come before I bleed my life away.

let there be justice, let there be love,

come show me the truth in what you say.

The reason for my attachment to Kahlil is a long story. It was just another day walking on the streets of Lokhandwala (an area best known as a fashion paradise and a shopper’s heaven) with Rs.100 note in my pocket. A few nice things I could afford maybe but I wonder if it was a mere coincidence or a calculated mischief played by God. Being a lazy girl a 800 page book was the last thing on my mind. Suprisingly, I stopped at “book lovers” (which I was not) and a sale due to which thankfully I could buy in just Rs.100 :the 800 page book “Complete Works Of Kahlil Gibran”– The book I hold today dearest to my heart.

This book soon changed my life.Gave me confidence and encouragement to develop my scattered thoughts and dreams into well organized ideals that will be a part of me for eternity.
